Back in the Saddle, so to Speak!

Well hello there! It’s been a minute…a few months since my last post. Where have I been? Let me catch you up as to why I have been off the radar!

Back in May, my wife and I bought a house in Middle Tennessee. We loved the area and the people, and we also knew we needed to get out of California. In June, we packed up our belongings in Long Beach and drove across the country. Let me tell you something, even with only an 805 sq. ft. house, you can accumulate so much. We probably donated as much as we packed.

After the drive and unloading the POD, we started setting up and unpacking. Moving into a home that is 4X the size of the one you left is daunting. It’s beautiful, but incredibly spacious and overwhelming to a certain degree. Slowly, we have set up the rooms, had furniture delivered, etc. There is still so much left to do, but we are getting there.

We also discovered some incredible local residents who were larger than life (see the Luna Moth and Trapdoor Tarantula images below).

In that time, I have been blessed to be able to continue to work for the same company remotely for three weeks a month and one week in the Long Beach office. I do travel, but I love my job and the people I work with. I also have a great group of friends that are always willing to help out, and I greatly appreciate y’all. <– I’m even getting the lingo down!

Before we moved, one of my friends here in Tennessee offered to allow me to hunt his property during deer season. He gave me some breathing room to be able to unpack and get settled. I owe him big time and I have had a great time learning and patterning some of the deer, but there are a few bucks that have not read the script though! No matter what, I am loving it out here!

As you can imagine, moving to Tennessee left me with no choice but to rebrand. I could no longer be known as The SoCal Bowhunter. But now, there is new life! A rebirth of sorts! The SoCal Bowhunter is no more! It brings me great joy to announce that the blog, my socials and my brand is now…

The Faithful Sportsman!

Why and how did I choose The Faithful Sportsman? Well, I’ve been praying about this rebrand for months. Literally, praying for months and I kept hitting mental roadblocks. A core group of friends gave me some great ideas and I prayed on them, too. It wasn’t until I had dinner with my wife one evening that the brand appeared. My wife is very perceptive, intelligent and offers great advice. As I shared idea after idea with her, I saw the look on her face and she said, ‘What about “The Faithful Sportsman”?’ As a believer in Jesus Christ, and someone who had been praying about this for months, and as a sportsman who loves to hunt, fish and be outdoors, this was a perfect name. Thanks, babe!

What can you expect to see from The Faithful Sportsman? Well, I’m going to save that for the next post. Until then, enjoy the outdoors, be safe, and God bless!
