Keeping this short and simple, we spoke up and S.B. 252 – the bill to end bear hunting in California – was pulled at the beginning of February. While I am happy it was pulled, I know it will not stop and we must remain vigilant. The HSUS will continue to try to jam anti-hunting down our throats. In turn, we must stand strong and fight the opposition to legal hunting in California.
There are new bills appearing across the west, such as New Mexico SB 32 – Wildlife Conservation & Public Safety Act. They basically want to put an end to trapping. There are very legitimate reasons for trapping and this bill is simply one more attempt for anti-hunters and anti-trappers to stop hunting altogether. We all need to speak up as it passed the first round last week.
