TWRA Deer Hunting Proposals for 2024

As we prepare for 2024 deer hunting, we hunters are beginning to look at the land we hunt and how to improve it for deer habitat, hunting opportunities and healthier deer. For those of us that are able to hunt private land within a particular unit, we focus a great deal of our time there. While there are other proposals made, TWRA has proposed some changes specific to the deer hunting regulations moving into Fall 2024.

In the below TWRA meeting on March 21, 2024, at around 2:02, Mark McBride, Asst. Chief – Game Species of the Wildlife & Forestry Division, shares about the deer hunting proposed changes. He states (at around 2:02:40), ‘The different packages across the state um so before I talk about the specific packages just at a high level the buck bag limits going to stay the same um two across the state Statewide so if you shoot a buck in unit one you can go to another unit shoot another one but you can’t shoot two bucks in each unit.’

That isn’t staying the same because the current regulations state;

Units A, B, C, D, L – Two (2) antlered deer (one per day, not to exceed 2 for the season). The bag limit of two (2) antlered deer may be exceeded if taken as a bonus deer.

I recommend watching the entire meeting, especially if you hunt more than one game animal. If you live in Middle Tennessee and don’t want the deer hunting regulations to change, I urge you to leave a public comment. I did.
