California Bill Would Increase Difficulty for Hunting Licenses

From the NSSF: California State Sen. Anthony Portantino wants to make it harder to obtain a hunting license. Sen. Portantino introduced SB 914 which, if passed, would give the California Department of Justice the ability to determine whether or not a hunting license is valid. Exactly how they will determine what is valid remains a mystery. Additionally, SB 914 would create a definition of a “valid hunting license” which would be at the discretion and interpretation of a branch of the state government whose core competencies are law enforcement matters not hunting and fishing issues. Sen. Portantino ran over 10 bills aimed at limiting the Second Amendment in California, including limiting semiautomatic rifle purchases to one gun a month.

It was a only a matter of time until this happened. Some fellow hunters and I were discussing this not two years ago when the lead ban was in motion. We knew they would go for our hunting licenses next. Be very aware that this is a real threat and to stay vigilant.
